A day in the life of Pondy Bazaar

As I trudge down stony paths in Pondy Bazaar, the shopping hub of Chennai, I am swarmed by the colourful displays, the incessant calls by street vendors to buy the trinklets they sell and the aroma of piping hot sweet corn peppered with spice. A long road with endless make shift and regular shops on the pavement selling just about everything – bling to modest jewellery, shoes to slippers, handbags to travel bags, plastics and locks, furnishings and fresh flowers, stuff toys to bubble jars, cotton candy to pop corns, Cone Ice creams to fresh fruits . A day out in Pondy will leave you extremely tired and dehydrated so go prepared with water bottles and . If you plan an evening to gawk at these shops with no intention of buying than be rest assured, that won’t happen. You’d return guilt ridden for indulging in the act of not buying more. You need to bear in mind that majority of the stores and pavement shops would sell you the same stuff be it jewellery or clothes, what adds to the excitement is to visit as many stores possible and then decide where to make your pick from.
