Deanna Troi, a character in the movie Star Trek: The Next Generation famously said "I never met a chocolate I didn't like." Chocolate has something so mysterious and magical about it; be it the texture, the melting in the mouth or the sweetness that lingers in your taste buds. In India, we have probably become used to buying our share of chocolates from the select brands available in retail stores. Things have changed over the years. Lindt, the Swiss premium chocolate is here to stay and offers the highest chocolaty experience for chocolate lovers.
At Rhapsody in Courtyard by Marriot hotel in the city, Lindt held a workshop that helped chocolate lovers to delve into the world of chocolates. Chef Adelbert Bucher conducted the workshop for where he taught how to make five delicious desert recipes, using Lindt chocolates. The deserts made include: German Chocolate Cake which was a sumptuous chocolate cake with lacing of tender coconut, Chocolate Pot De Crème which consisted of a lot of dark Lindt chocolate and double cream. The third recipe which the chef demonstrated with the assistance of Courtyard Marriot Chefs was the Milk chocolate with cardamom panacotta which was a nice blend of Lindt milk chocolate infused with cardamom. The last two recipes taught were plain chocolate truffles and chocolate truffles with orange and other flavored liquors.
The taste of lindt still lingers in my mouth as I write this post Chef Adelbert is the masterchef who conducted the workshop. His visit to India must have shown him the love we have for chocolates. When I asked him whether Indians love chocolates more than the swiss, he said the love for chocolate is growing in India, but the Swiss still lead the race. Apparently, in Switzerland, each person eats about 300 kg of chocolate every year! He said that an Indian would eat only say about 100 kg a year. The Chef hasn’t seen our Diwali sweets and savouries!
